Communion

I believed in my existence
Because I had seen myself in a mirror
And my image in the mirror
Had seen me too


I was as far away from the mirror
As was my image
The mirror used to double
The distance between us

Therefore I started approaching the mirror
Thereby getting closer to my image
At last we got so close to each other
That not even the mirror came between us

From then on
I cannot tell myself from my image
Nor can my image tell itself from me


And because I do not see any more images
I believe that the mirror
No longer exists
In fact, I doubt whether it ever existed at all.
